Celebrating One Year at Skillcentrix — Skillcentrix

Written by Meghan Lockwood | August 29, 2023

One year ago, Skillcentrix set out on a journey to transform skills and talent strategies for today’s top businesses in the Workday ecosystem. We set out on an important mission: To empower, guide, and enable clients as they navigate their journey to next-gen talent strategies by maximizing technology investments to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Put differently, we’re here to amplify and simplify the Skills Revolution. And what’s amazing is that in the last year, we’ve been able to do exactly that for numerous clients and provide Workday customers with a unique combination of HR Advisory Transformation and Technology Services.

This last year has been full of major milestones: 20+ events, 26 blogs, and 17 new hires, just to name a few. As we look back and reflect on our first year, we are both proud of our growth and excited for all that’s still to come in the future.

A Culture of Excellence, Collaboration, and Fun

It’s hard to talk about our best Skillcentrix highlights without mentioning our special team of experts. We couldn’t have done this last year without our Skillsquad who model our values day in and day out, including: Strive for excellence and delight clientslead from your seatgo the extra mile, and “own it,” and build a company we love through SKILLS – Solidarity, Kindness, Inclusion, Learning, Laughter, and Smarts!

From our Client Partners to our Technical Architects, every member of our team is passionate about helping our clients create cultures where skills and talent drive business success.

In Our Own Words: Looking Back on the Last 365 Days

In honor of our amazing team and Skillcentrix’s first anniversary as a company, we asked our all-star team to share a lesson they’ve learned since joining the company. Keep reading to learn about their favorite highlights from the last 12 months:

“One year WOW… The past twelve months have been an amazing ride. The fact that I get to do what I love with some of my most favorite people in the world is very special. The best part is seeing all of these wonderful Skillmates coalesce around an idea, a vision, and watching it grow and become a reality.

We founded this company on the idea that we could help others do more with what they have, while solving some of their most pressing talent challenges. I think we are off to an excellent start. The best is yet to come. Here’s to year two!”

– Co-CEO, John Angele

“I learned the importance that Talent and Skills play in the future of work, and that many organizations want to start shifting their business strategy from one that is job-focused to one that is skill-centric, but don’t know where to start. The past few months at Skillcentrix have been incredibly rewarding for me both personally and professionally. I’ve gotten the chance to work with and learn from some of the best in the ecosystem. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow the business and team together, and excited for what’s to come!”

– Miguel Michelandeli, Senior Technical Architect

“People really are Skillcentrix’s greatest asset! The enthusiasm and intelligence of everyone I’ve met is inspiring, and the collective energy reshapes everything: problems are interesting challenges and overwhelming amounts of work are just motivation for boundless teamwork. I’m so proud to be here, and I look forward to doubling down on this insight next year!”

– Jessica Isler, Sales Development Associate

“The main lesson I’ve learned this year with Skillcentrix is the importance of adaptability and flexibility when it comes to solving for both our clients and our internal team. Building is fun, but requires you to wear a host of different hats!”

– Alexandra Shamshyn, Intern

One thing I’ve learned at Skillcentrix during my time here is the importance of a great culture. The team really makes an effort to welcome every new member and I think it makes the biggest difference in the sense of inclusivity we have here. I’ve learned that the team prioritizes the community we are building and it’s amazing to see us grow!”

– Hetal Patel, Consultant

“In this past year, I’ve learned many new skills in writing, research, and social media management. The biggest takeaway from this year, however, was the importance of an amazing team, like the one at Skillcentrix, that builds confidence and trust within myself and everyone involved.”

– Carol Tucunduva, Intern

I’ve picked up some new technical skills!  I’m now officially certified in People Experience, and I’m also in the process of wrapping up my Adaptive certification. I can’t wait to put these to good use!”

– Carolina Pastor, Workday Senior Consultant

“There is no better feeling than representing something you truly believe in. We have a lot of intensely passionate people here… and in the startup world, you need that!

I love how we have been leaning into our Value Code, especially as of late… To “win trust through radical candor” and to “lead by going the extra mile” aren’t just words here – they are commitments we have made that are helping us establish how we work, communicate, make decisions, and drive value.”

– Jamie Kanter, Client Partner

“I’d like to share two thoughts from the last year — because picking one was impossible: The first is how the last year has reinvigorated my love for what we do. Internally working with amazing people, building OUR company, trying to get better every day. Externally I love working with customers and trying to help them solve their problems – hopefully in the end improving the day-to-day for their employees.

The second thing is something that I think is applicable to anyone at any level – don’t fake it. Don’t just go through the motions. It’s obvious to everyone around you and you don’t get any value or gratification out of it. Be diligent, stay committed and your work will be rewarding and the people around you will be inspired to do the same.

– Matt Gregory, Co-CEO

Cheers to the Next Year, and Beyond!

Thanks for joining us in this celebration of Skillcentrix’s first birthday. We hope you’ve enjoyed learning about the milestones our Skillcentrix family has collected throughout this last year. There’s no doubt in my mind that 2024 has even more greatness in store.
